Tasks and Communication

Can technology be considered a task?

Based on the relationship between tasks and communication, we can determine whether or not technology in and of itself can be considered a task. Review the common characteristics of a task. Check the box in front of the statements you believe to be true.

Technology in and of itself:

  1. is purposeful and goal oriented
  2. leads to an attainable goal
  3. requires comprehension, manipulation, and production of the target language
  4. focuses on a meaningful exchange of information
  5. engages learners in activity in order to carry out operations
  6. can be problem-solving or consensus-building
  7. shares ALL of the common characteristics of a task
  8. shares NONE of the common characteristics of a task
